You need to be certain that you have chosen the right people to film your wedding. When we meet prospective brides and grooms, we are sometimes asked:

Q How long are your wedding videos?

A There is no fixed duration; it all depends on what you’re doing. A full Catholic nuptial mass followed by a prolonged pre-meal reception, several long speeches and a lively evening party will easily make a two-hour video. But a small register office wedding and low key reception might result in a forty minute programme.

Q My uncle has a camcorder, why do I need Byland Media ?

A We can produce a video which looks and sounds professional and which you will want to watch again. We bring professional technology, experience and artistic flair to the project. Having been trained specifically in wedding videography on an Institute of Videography approved course, we know the techniques which contribute to a good wedding video. Amateur videos often suffer from poor sound quality; at Byland Media we add several high quality microphones to capture the full sound. Why put Uncle to the trouble and worry of trying to record your wedding? After all, he wants to enjoy your happy day too and there is no second chance to get it right.

Q Do you film in church?

A Yes, if permitted. Some churches are more welcoming than others, so we recommend you discuss having a video at an early meeting with the vicar. We have worked discreetly and sympathetically in many churches, including several cathedrals. We normally film the entire service, so our DVDs are a complete record of the act of worship.

Q How long after the wedding day will we receive the DVD?

A We aim to have the finished DVD to you within a month. However in the busy summer months we are filming faster than we can edit, so there may be a delay, in which case we will give you an estimated delivery date.

Q Will you "take over" & turn our wedding into a film set?

A Definitely not! We are often complimented on being unobtrusive. Our aim is to mix with your guests and film what is happening, not to control them.

Q What about copyright licences?

A It is all taken care of for you. There are two copyright licences relevant to wedding videos: Mechanical Copyright Protection Society (MCPS) and Phonographic Performance Ltd. (PPL). The MCPS licence buys the right to record a live performance of published music, for example by the organist and choir. The PPL licence is for using pre-recorded music from CDs etc. Byland Media buy the appropriate licences directly from MCPS and PPL to meet our legal obligations.
